Statement of Purpose
The Research and Education Committee focuses on exploring and understanding how BIM is best implemented within the AECOO industries while also understanding the connection between Education and Industry.
Goals
- Surveying the current courses related to BIM in Canadian universities and technical colleges, and learning from the experiences of the US and other countries.
- Addressing the challenges of systematically introducing BIM in undergraduate and graduate curricula (design, construction and FM related courses).
- Considering the benefits of BIM for supporting integrated life cycle management and sustainability issues.
- Linking education with AECOO industry needs (interoperability and data sharing).

The committee is looking for new members from academia and the industry to provide input about the needs for better BIM education and to identify areas that require further research and development.
