Kyle Anderson

BIM Manager, B+H Architects

Kyle has project experience in various market sectors including residential, retail, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, and institutional. A client-focused BIM Manager, Kyle is proficient in managing large-scale projects through innovative solutions that keep projects on schedule and on budget. Throughout his career, he has become highly exposed to trends in integrated project delivery (IPD) and technology-driven delivery methods as a means to enhance his BIM expertise. Kyle is particularly adept in the implementation of BIM practices through design phases, to ensure the follow-through of design intent while facilitating the necessary BIM development to meet model delivery expectations and client demands.

Alex Bahan

VDC / BIM Manager, CHANDOS Construction

Alex is BIM Manager at Chandos Construction Ltd. He has been in the construction industry for over 16 years in various facets, from the Oil and Gas industry to several Residential and Commercial projects outside and in Canada. Alex graduated in 2000 with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering .

Siddhika Bavdekar, B.Arch. CanBIM P2

BIM Technologist/Coordinator, Eastern Construction Company Limited

Siddhika is a virtual constructor and BIM strategist at Eastern Construction, developing methodologies for BIM implementation from the outset of design through to construction with a particular emphasis on the successful resolution of BIM complexities. Siddhika offers twelve years of related work experience, collaborating with architectural design firms both in Canada and abroad where she participated in the design of large-scale commercial, retail, and hospitality facilities. Siddhika couples a BIM Management Certification from George Brown College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from University of Mumbai and is CanBIM Level P2 certified. As a BIM Technologist with Eastern Construction, Siddhika is currently assigned to the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex and Student Residence, a $130M construction management project with Ryerson University.  Siddhika is stationed on-site at Ryerson where she is an active team member collaborating with Eastern’s project managers, superintendents, and project coordinators.  In addition to her work at Ryerson, Siddhika is managing the development of the LOD 500 model for the $130M TTC McNicoll Bus Garage design-build project.

Éric Bernier, ACI, CanBIM CP

Président, Stratège BIM, Zenit Consultants

Zenit Consultants was founded in 2009 by Eric Bernier, an architectural technologist by trade who was just finishing a contract with a local Autodesk reseller. He started using Revit in 2002 and trained over 800 people on the software, marking their first steps on the BIM road. Certified Expert in Revit and Autodesk ACI . Trainer implantateur , coach, strategist and pioneering BIM Revit Quebec.

Tina Bos

Senior Structural Technologist / BIM Manager, Herold Engineering

Tina is a Senior Structural Technologist / BIM Specialist with Herold Engineering on Vancouver Island.

She is a highly accomplished, certified Technologist with over 19 years of structural buildings experience

and 12 years of professional Building Information Modelling (BIM) experience.  Tina is also an avid Autodesk Revit Structure user, promoter and member of Autodesk’s Expert Elite. She is also the Chair of Women in Construction Nanaimo and sits on the Canadian BIM Council’s Design committee placing her well in the community to share her skills and experience. Tina is also the Community Representative for ASTTBC in Victoria, assisting and promoting BC’s Science Technicians and Technologists in the community. Tina has presented on the topic of Revit Structure at Autodesk University and the Revit Technologies Conference. She has been involved in teaching Revit Structure through workshops, user group sessions and formal instruction since 2006. Her experience and teaching capabilities make her a valuable resource for this very specialized software and a popular speaker and presenter nationwide on not only the software but also the process and methods of utilizing the software in the AEC industry.

Jean-Marc Couffin

Architecte DPLG, Consultant BIM Manager for BIM One, Design Technologist

Trained architect both in France and in the USA, Jean-Marc worked in Singapore, Vietnam, France, Czech Republic before working in Canada for Provencher Roy Architectes Associés as a BIM manager supporting teams in their efforts to create above standards building. Moving back to Czech Republic, he recently joined BIM One as a consultant to pursue his interest in BIM problem solving and automatization and explore all dimensions of BIM.  His main area of focus for the past years has been developing and implementing company BIM standards and methods. He dedicates himself to build coworkers efficiency and is always on the look for innovative technologies that can improve design practice. Jean-Marc’s experience includes creating and managing complex BIM models and projects for the Agence Métropolitaine de Transport, the Place des Arts, the Canadian Space Agency, TPSGC and many major clients.  

Saji Darali

M.Arch, CanBIM CP, Turner Fleischer Architects

Saji has over 15 years of experience in design and construction across large-scale projects in Canada and internationally with focus on BIM implementation, collaboration, automation and enabling data interoperability between various platforms. With a background in architecture and strong programming and IT skills, he is always seeking innovative solutions that will take BIM into the next level.

Dan Doherty

VDC Modeling Manager, PCL Constructors

Daniel is VDC Modeling Manager, at PCL Constrcutors in Edmonton, AB. He has over 15 years experience in the AEC industry starting as a construction laborer. As a certified Architectural Technologist (C.E.T.), he gained experience in the multiple facets of design and construction and played a lead role in the adoption of BIM technology. During his time at Clark Builders he earned his bachelor’s degree in Technology Management(BTech), a Certification of Management in BIM (CM BIM) and continues to implement tools, develop processes and advocate Building Information Modelling. Daniel is Vice Chair of the Alberta Center of Excellence for BIM (aceBIM) and has presented at various BIM conferences including Autodesk University (AU) and the Revit Technology Conference (RTC).

Jackson Fung

Manager of Design Technologies, Diamond Schmitt Architects

Jackson Fung is the Manager of Design Technologies at Diamond Schmitt Architects.  He has over 10 years of experience in the building and construction industry with specialty in BIM implementation and project delivery. His passion in Design Technologies continuously motivates him to strive further in pushing BIM beyond design and into various stages of the building-cycle. He currently oversees the development of BIM processes for all projects at Diamond Schmitt Architects and is a standing member of the Toronto BIM Community as a Social Media Chair, and holds a Canada BIM Professional Level 2 certification.

John Hale

Chief CAD/BIM, Department of National Defence & BuildingSMART Canada

John Hale is the Chief of CAD/BIM for the Department of National Defence. For 22 + years, John has been active in developing, implementing and managing CAD, GIS and BIM applications and solutions for both AEC and Real Property within the federal government of Canada.  John is an active member of many industry organizations and interest groups related to the implementation of BIM in Canada. John is the current chair of the Operations Committee of buildingSMART Canada, and sits on the Steering Committee for the Institute for BIM in Canada. John’s current focus is on implementing the DND Real Property Spatial Information Management Framework which will steer the integration of master real property spatial data with master business data while enabling enterprise level Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and processes.

Daniel Hurtubise

VDC/BIM Manager, Renzo Piano Building Workshop

VDC/BIM Manager for Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Daniel’s role is to support the office in the use of BIM related technology. Daily tasks range from user support, to meeting planning, and project start up. Daniel is also responsible for staying at the forefront of technology. Even though RPBW is a workshop and uses a lot of traditional methods, several cutting edge technologies are also employed. Revit is used daily as the foundation of the project geometry; tying this information into different systems and ensuring compatibility is one of Daniels’ chief responsibilities.

Petro Karanxha

M.Sc. ICM, ICIOB, CanBIM CP2, George Brown College

Petro is a BIM Researcher and Professor in the Angelo DelZotto School of Construction Management – George Brown College (GBC), Toronto. He was instrumental in supporting the design and delivery of innovative BIM courses across several construction management programs which were created or updated to include emerging, cutting-edge technologies and innovative practices. Petro works with a team of faculty and student researchers alongside industry collaborators which exposes students to innovative ideas and solutions to the problems faced by the construction industry. He has an excellent knowledge of Construction Processes, Construction Management, Building Information Modeling, AutoCAD, Revit, NavisWorks, and Microsoft Office products and provides consulting services for construction management, cost control and estimating utilizing BIM processes and tools.

Tero Laine

Technical Manager, BuildingPoint Canada

Tero has worked with advanced Building Information Modeling solutions for 20 years. After working first as a structural designer in mid 90’s he joined Tekla Corporation. During this time Tero played a key role in both developing Tekla Structures for different areas of construction industry as well as implementing progressive BIM solutions for companies all over the World.

After Tekla Corporation Tero joined BuildingPoint Canada as the Technical Manager. BuildingPoint Canada supports design-build-operate lifecycle in Canadian construction industry. It’s customers have many different roles in construction process: structural designers, steel, precast and rebar detailers and fabricators, and all aspects of CIP concrete construction, for example concrete contractors, formwork providers and self-performing general contractors. All striving for more automated design and construction with models being used from early design all the way to automated fabrication and for more efficient, accurate and safe construction with less waste.

Juan Lepe

Architect MAAA, RAIC, LEED BD+C CanBIM CP, NEXT Architecture

Juan Lepe is a certified CanBIM Professional and LEED AP architect with DIALOG Design. Originally from Mexico, Juan ran his own architecture practice in Mexico until immigrating to Canada in 1997. He became a certified architect in the province of Alberta in 2008 and has since worked on many projects such as Rogers Place. Juan is actively involved with BIM organizations, and enjoys collaborating and supporting the advocacy to BIM technology.

Rafael Lucero

Manager, Site Geomatics and Building Inventory, Alberta Infrastructure

Rafael is the Manager of the Spatial Information Management group at Alberta Infrastructure and is leading the Government’s ambitious BIM initiatives.  He has over 15 years of AEC industry experience, the majority of which have been gained internationally.  During his career, Rafael has worked for consulting firms and owners in Ireland, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, and also worked for the United Nations in Libya.   Rafael has extensive experience working on large and complex projects and in implementing lifecycle BIM processes with a particular focus on BIM for Facilities Management.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary and a Master of Science in Spatial Information Management from City University London in the UK


Amal Madanat, B.Arch.Eng., LEED AP

Design Manager, BIM Lead

Amal is the North America Director of Practice at B+H Architects and a member of the National CanBIM design committee. She has over 20 years of experience in structuring and leading BIM-enabled integrated delivery strategies. Prior to B+H, she worked with governments and many high-profile private clients on multi-million dollar projects. Amal has a strong background in process design as well as extensive knowledge in creating BIM frameworks and execution plans. She has also gained practical experience while managing several large, high-profile, award-winning BIM projects. Amal has leveraged this experience and gained a reputation as a pragmatic problem solver and systematic thinker. In addition to architecture and engineering degrees, she holds a certificate in Lean Six Sigma from the University of Toronto, is a LEED Accredited professional, and was a senior member at the American Society for Quality.

Laura Lee-Moran

National BIM Leader, Smith + Andersen

As National BIM Leader, Ms. Moran leads a group of highly talented modellers and designers using Revit as a program base.  She is responsible for developing and implementing companywide BIM standards and has a key role in developing project workflows and strategies for coordinating with other Smith + Andersen offices and outside consultants.  She has also created companywide training sessions to ensure all offices are developing the models to a consistent level of quality and detail.

Wendy Mok

Design Technology Manager, HOK

Wendy Mok is the Design Technology Manager of HOK Inc. (Canada).  Wendy graduated from the Academy of Art at the University of San Francisco.  With extensive experience in Interior Design, BIM & 3D modeling/rendering, she works to proactively support project teams and foster commitment to external and internal clients.

Martin Neault

BIM Manager, Zeidler Architecture

Martin is the BIM Manager at Zeidler Architecture.  He is a CanBIM Certified Professional (CP) with over twenty-seven years of experience in CAD and BIM Management in Cultural, Education, Government, Healthcare, Hospitality, Mixed Use, Office, Recreational, Residential and Transportation projects.  Over the past decade, Martin has developed extensive and practical BIM Management expertise working on mid to large size architectural projects. He has a passion for improving collaboration, coordination and communication, and implementing BIM processes and technologies with the Design Team, Contractor and Owner to enhance overall efficiency. He is an active member of the Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) and the Calgary BIM Community (cBIMc).

Magdalena Ordyniec, M.Sc., CanBIM Certified Professional

VDC Consulting, Get-Tech Consulting

Magdalena has over 14 years of international experience in the consulting, construction and project management field working in Europe, the Middle East and Canada, specializing in BIM and VDC from pre-design through to the construction phase, FM and O&M. She is a Founder of GET-TECH Innovative Solutions, a new venture focusing on helping industry members to optimize design, construction and operation processes at all stages of a built asset’s life cycle. Her most recent responsibilities include managing business development strategies within a profit & loss environment, securing new work, collaborating with partners around the globe to get access to the latest advanced methods and tools currently available on the market. She specializes in a wide range of consulting services related to Scan-to-BIM, 3D modeling, BIM/VDC standards implementation, BIM asset management, 3D/4D visualizations, renderings, VR and AR presentations, 360o virtual tours, record photography and training. She collaborates closely with scanning and modeling partners to ensure efficient data collection, model development, creation of as-builts and BIM-FM integration. As one of the first Certified Professionals of the Canada BIM Council she is actively involved in promotion of new technology adoption in AECOO industry. She supports professional organizations and educational institutions in the implementation of innovative solutions by taking part in conferences and industry events. 

Calin Vaida

Manager, Engineering and CAD Services (ECS), Plan Group Inc.

Calin holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania and Universite de Technologie de Belfort-Montbeliard, France. He started his career in 2001 at ICCO Systems, in Romania, as an electrical engineer. He started at Plan Group as an electrical designer in 2007, when he moved to Canada. His role at Plan Group has evolved from designing and coordinating the electrical systems to performing BIM coordination and leading the project teams on large construction projects.


Currently, Calin manages the Engineering and CAD Services department at Plan Group. Part of his role includes creating, monitoring and improving Plan Group’s internal processes and procedures. This enables the company to provide high quality and on schedule construction design deliverables, including BIM related items, to its clients. 

Carl Veillette, CanBIM CP

Chief technology Innovation Officer, BIM One Inc.

M. Veillette is a BIM, VDC and CIM specialist, co-founder of BIM One Inc. and BIM Track®. He is vice-chair of the member program at BuildingSMARTCanada and involved in GroupeBIMQc and CanBIM. He spoke in events like DCW (London), ORUG (Toronto), BIMWorld (Paris) and GroupeBIMQc (Québec). After 9 years in the industry, he had worked on more than 25 BIM projects for manufacturers, cities, owners, engineers and architects.
