The 3D model of the City of Quebec, originally in CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) format, has evolved into a complex three-dimensional data model in which all areas of the organization's activities can be integrated. Québec City is currently developing a 3D interactive map (3D GIS) that will enable complex spatial analyzes such as sunshine or visibility analyzes and even manage conflicts between underground infrastructures.Following the success achieved with the construction of the multifunctional Amphitheater in Quebec City, carried out following the BIM Construction approach, the City of Quebec has embarked on a process of implementation and deployment of BIM, and this, for all the life cycle of its buildings. Several projects are currently underway, including the Ice Center and the Saint-Roch Community and Sports Center.Québec City is in its infancy at the convergence between BIM and GIS. Recent work at the level of 3D GIS now allows it to advance this convergence as ever. Recently, it is possible to view BIM projects in their 3D environments, but in the medium term, the City aims to ensure that the BIM process is informed in real time by GIS rather than just to feed it.

Biographie

A graduate of Laval University in Forestry and Cégep Limoilou in Geomatics, Mr. Marceau has been Coordinator of the Geomatics team of the Quebec City Department of Engineering for 5 years. His team is responsible for, among other things, the development of the 3D model, the update of basic data and infrastructure, thematic mapping and CADD support of the Engineering Department. Previously, he was part of the development team of Hydro-Québec Geomatics Unit in Montreal.

Louis Tremblay

Engineer, City of Québec

Louis Tremblay graduated in Automated Production Engineering from École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) since 2003. A member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, he has since worked mainly as a project manager in the construction sector. Employed by Quebec City since 2010, Mr. Tremblay was responsible for the BIM coordination team for the construction of the multifunctional amphitheater in Quebec and also played an important role in the improvement of the construction model. in order to bring it to a BIM model for operation and maintenance. Since September 2016, Mr. Tremblay has been responsible for the implementation of BIM in Quebec City for the entire life cycle of the building. This information management approach requires listening, vision and leadership to ensure a smooth organizational transition.
