AECOM is seeking a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Technician to be based in Markham, ON..

This position is expected to begin in January 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and revise Conceptual, Pre-design and Detail Design Drawings from hand sketches or red line markups using Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, and AutoCad / Autocad Plant in both 2D and 3D formats across multiple disciplines (Process Mechanical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls)
  • Prepare and plot / support electronic and paper contract drawings and documents for project deliverables
  • Create and manage 2D CAD and 3D BIM Content from cut sheets, hand sketches, photos or red line markups
  • Assist with BIM standards development and implementation and automation of BIM systems
  • Assist with project BIM setup
  • Be able to work within an assigned budget and timeframe on multiple projects, either in a group or individually, and meet simultaneous project deadlines
  • Control, manage and store documentation / deliverables both physically and in a digital environment
  • Be able to interact with others in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Be able to coordinate work between multiple disciplines
  • Be physically fit and able to accompany staff and participate in site visit, inspections, and surveys of civil municipal infrastructure, such as treatment plants, pumping stations and sites which may include confined space entry, climbing ladders, working at heights and working in the vicinity of hazardous chemicals
  • Be able to travel (infrequently) to job sites for site visits / inspections
  • Train and comply with all aspects of Safety, Health and Environmental Policies
  • Train and comply with all aspects of corporate Integrity and Code of Conduct
  • Work under the supervision of Designers, Engineers and Project Managers
  • Be able to read and understand construction documents

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Civil, Mechanical, Architectural or similar college level Technical Graduate
  • Physically capable of performing site work/inspections when needed and capable of lifting drawing rolls and sets (up to 40lbs)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Autocad / Autocad Plant Experience
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM360) Experience
  • Autodesk Navisworks Experience
  • Autodesk Autocad Experience
  • Microsoft Word, Excel Explorer and Outlook Experience
  • Basic knowledge of heavy construction
  • Ability to read, work and visualize projects & drawings in 3D and 2D
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, correspondence, memos and construction documents
  • Strong communications skills
  • Strong mathematical and geometric capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bentley Microstation
  • Experience in working with Scaled drawings
  • Membership in OACETT or equivalen Additional comments:
  • This is an entry level position
  • Must be a Self-starter, team player and detailed oriented
  • Must be capable to pursue further education on BIM
  • Must be able to take direction
  • Must be able to pass security screening including having no criminal record if required for a project
  • May require overtime as needed
