RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
- Takes ownership, is very proactive in approach, and becomes a subject matter expert where it makes sense or is required.
- Provides expertise and/or advisement to project teams for implementation of advanced design technology techniques.
- Dynamically problem solves complex procedural issues and develop workflows that leverage existing solutions or generates bespoke methods in concert with Directors/Other Senior Technology Specialists/Team leads.
- Provides expertise and/or advisement to the firmwide Advanced Technology Group (ATG) team for implementation or research of advanced design technology techniques.
- Provides feedback on project-based activities to the firmwide Design Technology team.
- Can be a resource and team member in all phases of the project.
- Utilizes specialist knowledge to conduct complex modeling, data management, analysis and/or optimization for architectural designs (for example, building massing or exterior enclosures).
- Provides specialized design analyses such as pedestrian/egress simulation, sustainable design analysis, or code compliance analysis.
- Maintains current knowledge of design software, industry developments in integrated practice, and other applicable techniques.
- Supervises BIM Coordinators and/or Design Technology Specialists, and provides direct support to project teams to ensure successful outcomes.
- Devotes time to research new and unreleased technologies.
- May contribute to the production of project deliverables.
- Acts as mentor by coaching and motivating project team members in the use of advanced technologies.
- Demonstrates continuous efforts to improve operations, project performance and productivity.
- Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
Required Skills
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Advanced knowledge in building information modeling programs and applicable techniques.
- Software development experience an asset and preferred (Python, C#, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to research and understand the complexities of technology implementation at a large firm with multiple locations and disciplines.
- Expertise in Revit and Rhinoceros required.
- Expertise in Dynamo and Grasshopper preferred.
- Expertise with dRofus, database technologies, and schemas preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D Modeling and analysis software including the ability to configure the applications.
- Knowledge about sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines and manage own time as well as the time of others.
- Ability to communicate and present
Required Experience
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, information technology (with specialization or related AEC experience) or a related discipline required; Masters of Architecture preferred.
- 10+ years’ progressive experience in BIM/3D Modeling.
- LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
OTHER:
- Travel may be required.
- Overtime may be required.
- A minimum of Reliability Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is a requirement for this position.
