CanBIM Foundations Certification
CanBIM Foundations Certification
Below is a listing of the CanBIM Foundation Certification Levels. CanBIM Certifies individuals that have successfully completed BIM Software and Management courses/programs or a combination of both. There are three (3) ways individuals can achieve Foundations Certification.
An individual completes a course/program that is CanBIM Certified. See a list of CanBIM Certified Courses and Programs below:
Individuals who have taken a CanBIM Certified Program, would fill out a FAST-TRACK application, and submit the application for review and approval. CanBIM will send an invoice for the the Foundations Certification Application Fee. Once payment is received CanBIM will review the application. Once the review is complete and if the applicant is approved for CanBIM Foundations Certification, CanBIM will send the applicant an invoice for the CanBIM Foundations Certification Fee. Upon receipt of payment CanBIM will mail the applicant a Certification package to the mailing address in the application. If the applicant is not approved, CanBIM will provide feedback and instructions for applicant follow up. There are no submission deadlines for FAST-TRACK application. CanBIM will endeavour to review and assess FAST-TRACK applications within 30 days. CanBIM will endeavour to mail-out Certification packages within 45 days.
Integrated Pathway to Certification (IPC)
With Integrated Pathway to Certification (IPC) the educational institution initiates the Certification process on behalf of its students. The educational institution submits a course/program to the CanBIM Certification Program for consideration. If all the appropriate documentation is provided CanBIM certifies the course/program. For Certification of the Educational Courses/Programs, certification application and certification fees will apply to the educational institution (See Educational Certification). Prior to the Program commencement the educational institution notifies CanBIM that they would like to have their students receive their CanBIM Certification upon successful completion of the program, at the same time that they receive their graduation certificate from the educational institution. The students then begin the course/program. Near the end of the course/program the education institution provides CanBIM with a completed CanBIM Excel Template listing all student information so CanBIM can create a certification package for all students. The educational institution then pays a single Application Fee covering all students and an Individual Certification Fee for each graduating student. Once payment is received CanBIM will mail all Certification Packages to the Educational Institution for delivery to the students by the educational institution. Upon graduation the student then receives a CanBIM Certification package at the time of graduation. Neither the educational institution or the student are required to fill out an application in this process, however the educational institution is responsible to cover all the fees associated with Certification. On a case by case basis, CanBIM representatives may be available to attend a graduation ceremony to deliver Certificates to each student. Contact if your educational institution would like to proceed with IPC.
Non-Certified Courses and Programs
Students who have taken a course that is BIM related, but is not CanBIM Certified can submit an application for Foundations Certification. The applicant must include complete course/program information as per the Standard Foundations Certification Application requirements. Upon submission of the completed application, the applicant would then receive an invoice for the CanBIM Certification Application Fee, once payment is received CanBIM will begin the application review. If CanBIM determines that the course is not eligible for a Foundations Certification, CanBIM will notify the applicant. If the course/program is eligible CanBIM will indicate which level is appropriate and notify the applicant. As a separate process, CanBIM may also reach out to the educational institution to determine if the educational institution would like to have their course/program CanBIM Certified. CanBIM will proceed to assess the application at the appropriate Foundations Certification Level. Once the assessment is completed and approved, the applicant would receive an invoice for the CanBIM Certification Fee. Once payment is received the applicant will receive a Certification Package in the mail. If the application is not approved, the applicant will receive feedback and instructions for follow up.
