Andrea Lee

Partner, Glaholt LLP

Andrea Lee is certified as a Specialist in Construction Law by the Law Society of Ontario. She is a partner of the leading and nationally recognized construction law firm of Glaholt LLP.

Andrea received a B. Arch from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Design, in 2002 and a LL.B. from Queen's University in 2005. She has practiced construction law exclusively since her call to the bar.

As an architectural intern, Andrea worked for the City of Toronto and architectural firms in Ontario and Hong Kong. As a lawyer, Andrea has experience acting on behalf of owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors on all scales of projects throughout Canada in various court proceedings or private arbitration. Andrea provides advice with respect to contracts on a wide range of project delivery methods and professional design agreements. 

Andrea has published articles in the following newsletters and publications: Building Envelope Forum, Building Strategies, Architecture (RAIC), OBA Construction Law Section Nuts and Bolts, and the Construction Law Letter. Andrea authored the chapter “Architects and Engineers” in Halsbury’s Laws of Canada, Construction and the chapter “Architects and Engineers: Recent Developments” in Review of Construction Law: Recent Developments. 

Andrea speaks regularly on various construction law topics to industry professionals, the University of Toronto (Construction Law), Osgoode Hall (Real Property LL.M), George Brown College (Construction), REALPAC, the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates' Society, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Ontario Association of Architects. Andrea also co-founded the Construction Law course at Queen's University.

Andrea completed her LEED certification in 2009, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. She also is the current Public Affairs Liaison for the OBA, Construction and Infrastructure Law Section Executive.

Jason Lewis

Senior Legal Counsel, WSP

Jason Lewis is Senior Legal Counsel at WSP, one of the world's leading engineering professional services consulting firms. Jason serves WSP Canada’s Buildings Business Line, providing counsel on contractual and operations matters. Jason graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2007, with Common and Civil Law degrees and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008. Jason also received a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University in 2002. 


Prior to joining WSP, Jason practiced at a global real estate development company acting as lead construction lawyer for their Canadian retail portfolio. Jason also practiced at one of Toronto’s premiere boutique land development firms and started his career at the Regional Municipality of Halton. 


Jason serves as co-CPD Liaison for the Ontario Bar Association (“OBA”) Construction and Infrastructure Section Executive and is a Member-at-Large of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association - Ontario Chapter Section Executive.

Todd Mandel

Vice President, Legal Infrastructure, Bird Construction

Todd Mandel is the Vice President, Legal Infrastructure at Bird Construction and focuses on Bird’s major projects and public-private partnership (PPP) projects.  Todd joined Bird in 2014 to support Bird’s growing emphasis on complex projects and has contributed to the pursuit of numerous major projects, including the successful securement and execution of ten PPP projects across Canada and many other significant projects with Bird.  He maintains a diverse practice as in-house counsel and supports all aspects of Bird’s business from a legal perspective, with a particular emphasis on training and continuing education of Bird’s employees.  


Prior to joining Bird, Todd worked as in-house counsel for the equity division of a major Spanish construction company in their pursuit of major PPP projects in Canada and as an associate at a major Toronto law firm.

Catherine MacInnis

Associate General Counsel, IBI Group Inc.

Catherine MacInnis serves as Associate General Counsel on IBI Group's Legal Services team. She has significant experience providing practical legal advice to international clients on a broad range of litigation matters, including complex design disputes. Catherine is accountable for managing IBI Group's risk portfolio worldwide. Prior to joining IBI Group, Catherine practiced law at a leading full service law firm, and a prominent securities litigation boutique in Toronto.  Catherine is a contributor to the annual World Bank report on business regulation  (Doing Business) and presents frequently on legal matters impacting the design professions.
