Kirk Banadyga, B. Arch, PP/FRAIC, Hon. FAIA, SAA

Provincial Architect, Government of Saskatchewan

Kirk Banadyga is a registered architect, having practiced in private and corporate sector, as business owner and partner, in Saskatchewan, for over 40 years before joining the Province of Saskatchewan as Provincial Architect. The decades have provided Kirk with the opportunity to consult in a broad range of consulting projects over a large variety of building types using a wide range of project delivery methodologies.  The Saskatchewan market place has been a unique environment and incubator to develop a broad-based architectural business experience.

This diverse experience has also included serving the profession in multiple capacities; provincially, nationally, and internationally. This opportunity to serve the profession has ranged from various committee and elected board memberships that further led to serve provincially as President of the Saskatchewan Association of Architects and nationally as President of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.

Banadyga has always had a keen interest in the technology of the day and an advocate of it’s business applications within the practise of architecture.  This passion has, over the years earned him a reputation as an architectural “geek”, a badge he wears with honour.

During this time in the private sector Banadyga has been an early adopter of technology including BIM, web based project information management, asset management systems and mobile technology. He is currently promoting and leveraging this experience within government to promote the implementation of BIM and related technology to make the “best value” proposition to the construction sector and to the Province.

Megan Beange

BIM Lead at Public Services and Procurement Canada | Services publics et Approvisionnement Canada

As a young professional, my goal has been very simple from the outset. I want to contribute to changing the industry; help it grow and evolve with the emerging technologies and processes of the 21st Century; help it develop smarter and more interoperable data and interfaces; help it to improve the quality and efficiency of work done by all trades. However, recently a new goal has developed for me in light of my travels and experiences; to achieve those goals above, but in the best interests of the Canadian context.
