CanBIM has been working to improve the CanBIM Certification process throughout 2019, and as we begin a new year and a new decade we would like to share some Certification updates and changes we are making. CANBIM WEBSITE CanBIM will be launching a new website in early 2020. CanBIM members and certified individuals will be given a personal account and will be invited to login to their personal account page and update their professional details after the website launches. Those not already registered will be able to register on the website and will receive a personal account page where they will be able to apply for and track their activities and participation with CanBIM. Only CanBIM Members will have access to Member Only pages on the new website. Registered website users that wish to become CanBIM members will be able to apply for Membership from their personal account page.ONLINE CERTIFICATION PORTAL Beginning in the second quarter of 2020, CanBIM plans to begin building an Online Certification Portal (OCP) on the new CanBIM website. With the Online Certification Portal, CanBIM members and those seeking CanBIM certification can apply for certification from within their personal account page. Personal account pages will host information on applicant’s certification status, such as expiry dates, level of certification and the ability to access the online application process. CanBIM will also be working on a process to maintain Certification through uploading and tracking continuing professional development (CPD) activities through the website. Certified individuals (P1, P2, P3 and CP) will have the option of listing their name and certification level on the certification directory. We will have more on this in the spring of 2020. CanBIM will also begin taking Educational Certification Applications from post-secondary institutions, industry training providers and in-house corporate trainers through the website as part of the Online Certification Portal (OCP) in the fourth quarter of 2020. In the meantime, while we build the OCP, CanBIM will continue to use the PDF application process available on the current website and we will continue to honour the submission deadlines as posted on the CanBIM website. Below are some important updates about the CanBIM Certification process that will take effect starting in 2020 or as at the date of this newsletter:

CanBIM Foundations Certification will only be available to graduates of CanBIM-Certified courses and programs. CanBIM will consider courses or programs that are not CanBIM-Certified as supplemental or support documentation for a Professional Certification application or for Continuing Professional Development.CanBIM Application Fees and Certification Fees for the CanBIM Certification Program, including the Foundations, Professional and Educational Programs are subject to increase in 2020 due to the development of the Online Certification Portal.
