Summary

The CEIE is a project within the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto. The 18,634m2 building is an eight-storey + 2 storey below grade with a cast-in-place concrete structure and steel penthouse. The building will house facilities for students, professors, researchers and administrative staff. It contains multiple teaching spaces including a 472-seat auditorium using non-conventional seating layout for interactive learning. VDC/BIM was implemented in CEIE to mitigate the risk of potential cost overruns due to an aggressive construction schedule.
