For students who have taken a CanBIM-certified course or program and is offered as a one-time certificate that does not expire or require renewal.

Who qualifies for Foundations Certification?

Anyone who has successfully completed a CanBIM Certified Course or Program. See our directory for a full list of CanBIM certified programs and courses.

How long does it take for my application to be processed?

Allow up to 30 business days from the date the certification fee is paid.

What documents do I need to submit?

It is required to provide proof of completion, in the form of an official Transcript, Certificate, or Letter of Confirmation from the education or training provider indicating successful completion of the course/program submitted.

What does it cost to be certified?

- Member fee: CA$100 + applicable tax
- Non-member: CA$125 + applicable tax

How do I determine if I am a member of CanBIM?

Every CanBIM member receives a membership certificate. Check our membership directory to confirm your membership status.

If you are enrolled in a course or program from a CanBIM Educational member you may be eligible for Student Affiliate membership. Check our Organization membership directory to determine if your educational organization is a Member. Apply for Student Affiliate membership where applicable.

What is the value of Foundations Certification?

An immediate statement to the industry that you are ready to be employed and contribute. The CanBIM Foundations Certificate ensures that students and learners entering the industry are trained and educated in current and fundamental curriculum that is transferable, relevant, and valuable to employers that are utilizing digital technologies, workflows, and processes.

Is there an online directory where my Certification Status is posted?

Yes, CanBIM posts all successful applicants in the Certified Individuals directory.

My application was not approved, how do I proceed?

Carefully review the feedback provided by CanBIM and resubmit your application in accordance with the re-submission guidelines provided in the application result email. If you require additional clarification, please contact certification@canbim.com

Does Foundations Certification help me achieve Professional Certification?

Yes, depending on the level of Foundations Certification, CanBIM will reduce the required hours for professional Certification. Some Foundations Courses may qualify individuals for Professional Certification. See our list of Certified Programs/Courses that are eligible for Professional Certification.
