As an outspoken advocate of leveraging 3D technologies in construction, Mr. Strong has presented to numerous industry groups. Since 2002, Mr. Strong has been working in the construction industry developing expertise in R&D/Engineering as well as Project management.

Bruce McCallum, CanBIM Vice-President, CanBIM CP

Bruce is a LEED accredited professional, with over 10 years experience in the industry, many of which were spent in BIM management within the architectural and engineering industry. Bruce is passionate about facilitating the adoption of BIM at all project stages through smarter integration of all disciplines.

Ian Trudeau, CanBIM Treasurer, C.Tech, CanBIM CP

Associate, Entuitive Corporation

Ian is based in Toronto, Canada and has 15 years of experience in the building and construction industry. He has had significant involvement in a variety of commercial, residential, institutional and educational buildings in the Canadian and Middle Eastern markets using BIM technologies, focusing especially on geometrically complex structures. At Entuitive, Ian leads the technologist group and the research and development committee. He also actively participates in technology initiatives and quality assurance/control activities, ensuring Entuitive’s building information models can be used by all project stakeholders. Ian believes that excellent team communication is critical to the success of a project. His depth of BIM experience and natural leadership ability allows him to regularly drive new ideas and is continually looked to as a unique problem solver.

Pietro Ferrari, CanBIM Secretary, B.Tech., B.Arch., M.Arch., MRAIC, Assoc.AIA

Professor and Program Coordinator, School of Architectural Studies, George Brown College

Pietro Ferrari is a Professor and Program Coordinator in the School of Architectural Studies (SAS) at George Brown College (GBC) in Toronto where he has been a faculty member since 2004. Pietro was part of the planning team for GBC's BIM Post-Graduate Certificate Program. In addition to his role in academia, Pietro remains active as a design consultant, with over 25 years of experience in the building and construction industry.


Pietro received his Bachelor of Technology in Architectural Science from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto and both a Bachelor of Architecture Professional Degree and a Master of Architecture from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan.

Scott Chatterton, CanBIM Director, CanBIM CP

As a recognized leader of BIM and Digital Practice, Scott Chatterton understands the crucial role that technology plays in the delivery of today’s complex projects. 

 

Scott integrates BIM technology and the digital design process into daily project delivery. Using his extensive knowledge, Scott creates and applies efficient process using the latest BIM techniques and technologies. As a result of his experience, Scott is a sought-after author and presenter at BIM-related conferences, where he addresses ideas on BIM workflow, processes, protocols and quality.

Susan Brattberg, CanBIM Director

Susan Brattberg is proud to be a a member of the CanBIM board, and an Education Committee member, to utilize her relevant expertise and extensive network to enhance the Canadian BIM community. Susan holds a MBA from the joint UofC and UofA Executive MBA Program, and has a background in Organizational Dynamics Sociology.  She has been running organizations as an entrepreneur for over a decade and has experience in training, project management, client relations as well as marketing, advertising and sales.  Susan’s expertise is in working with industry partners to raise awareness of the benefits of education and to develop and implement high in-demand training programs.Susan is the CEO and co-founder of Global eTraining and has been consulting to employers and implementing corporate and vocational training programs for the past decade. Susan has worked with AEC firms, Education Institutions and Autodesk Authorized Training Centers (ATCs) from around the world to effectively integrate eTraining as part of their BIM training programs.  Susan has attended, exhibited and presented at many BIM and technology related conferences, and is excited to share her learning of the best practices in BIM to CanBIM.  Susan is a supporter of ‘Women in BIM’, as she believes that BIM will improve by attracting and retaining more diverse groups of BIM champions to the industry.

Dan Neufeglise, CanBIM Director

Senior Project Manager, Toronto PCL Constructors Canada Inc.


Dan is a Senior Project Manager in the Toronto District for PCL Constructors Canada Inc.  He has been with PCL for 27 years and in the construction industry for over 34 years.  He started his PCL career in Edmonton with PCL’s Engineering Services Department and has been a part of a field construction team for many of PCL’s major projects.  Since 2008 he has been responsible for the Virtual Construction Services Department in the Toronto District Office.  The department provides BIM/VC/Scheduling and Planning support for PCL’s Toronto District field operations.

Dan is an active member of PCL’s North American Head Quarters BIM Task Force which was created to develop PCL’s BIM standards and best practices for our North American operations.  He is an avid promoter of BIM and its many applications within the construction industry.

Christian Proulx, CanBIM Director

Christian Proulx graduated as a professional Mechanical Engineer from École Polytechnique de Montréal in 2005. He started his career as a 3D CAD Specialist with Creaform and from there rapidly transitioned into working for Verreault in Quebec City. For the last 8 years Christian has worked with Aéroport de Québec inc. He began as a Project Manager for Special Projects during major construction and renovation of the airports terminal in 2007 and 2008. Then as a Manager of the Project Department, he started implementing planning and monitoring processes and built a project department team. When AQi created a planning department, Christian was selected as the Senior Airport Planner and more recently he is transitioning into a Project Management Role. More recently Christian has transitioned into a role at BIM One Inc. as a BM Solutions Director. 

Brent Mauti, CanBIM Director, B.ARCH, OAA, AAA, LEED-AP, MRAIC, NCARB, Int. Assoc. AIA, CanBIM CP

Global Director, Design Technology, IBI Group

Brent Mauti is currently the Global Director for Design Technology within IBI Group, after a decade of fulfilling a similar roles for CH2M HILL. He is responsible to improve delivery of design services and processes while supporting critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation and maintenance of all firm wide design technology solutions. He provides advanced project level BIM Consultation to identify appropriate BIM Uses, mold BIM Goals, generate a BIM Execution Plan, and ensure accountability for successful lifecycle delivery. He also coordinates a collection of "Global Technology Portfolios" and "Regional Technology Leaders" aimed at achieving global synergy across the firm. Brent is a licensed architect who has focused on BIM throughout his career. He has been involved with major projects such as the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Panama Canal Widening. He has presented at numerous conferences hosted by Bentley, Canada BIM Council, IIDEX, Ontario Association of Architects, and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada to name a few. Brent's passion focuses on lifecycle BIM interoperability and cross-platform synergy.

Ivanka Iordanova, CanBIM Director, CanBIM CP

Dr. Ivanka Iordanova, LEED AP, is a diplomaed architect and has a Master’s and a PhD degree from the Université de Montréal. She spent numerous years in academia contributing to research related to collaborative design and creativity, to digital media and building performance, to BIM and know-how modeling. Her teaching experience includes digital architecture studios, courses on modeling and integrated design, multidisciplinary design studios, and more recently BIM. After a post-doc in the GRIDD of the ETS, she integrated Pomerleau as BIM Director. There she actively works for innovation, collaboration and better productivity in the construction industry through the adoption of new technology (BIM), and better planning and management (Lean construction).  

George Ikonomakis, CanBIM Director, Arch Tech, CanBIM CP

Alternative Delivery Group – BIM Manager, AECOM

George Ikonomakis is a BIM Manager for AECOM,  George graduated as an architectural technologist and has worked for over 15 years in the AEC industry. His first experience with BIM tools was in 2005 and shortly thereafter was appointed as BIM lead to champion the implementation of BIM tools. George spent 4 years as a BIM Consultant for an international certified Autodesk Training Partner prior to his current role at AECOM. As a consultant he travelled throughout North America, training, mentoring and implementing BIM Tools to major Architectural, Structural and Construction firms.

R. Allan Partridge, CanBIM Past President, CanBIM CP

Allan has been practicing architecture for over 25 years. He is particularly interested in design, planning and technology. Allan's involvement in all aspects of his projects brings extensive experience to fast-tracked, construction management processes where budget, schedule and function are major issues. He has specific expertise in the design of medical and healthcare research projects, with many repeat clients.

At NEXT Architecture, Allan leads their commitment to being at the forefront of combining design, technology, construction and practice in an integrated setting. Allan's approach, especially since starting with BIM in 2002 has resulted in high quality built results with marked reduction in costly design errors found in documentation. Allan has spoken at many venues on the importance of the transition firms must start making now to Integrated Practice utilizing BIM.

Allan, a founding member of CanBIM, is active in the profession, serving on a number of committees. He has also lectured at a number of national and international conferences in Heritage & Conservation Management and Building Information Modeling.

Paul F. Loreto, CanBIM Past President, OAA, MRAIC, CanBIM CP

No company in Canada can claim the longevity of fully integrating BIM into their company that L360 ARCHITECTURE can. L360 President Paul Francis Loreto was amongst the very first Architects in North America to adapt BIM technology in 2000, while also achieving the only North American designation as a Revit Solutions Professional in 2002, by Revit Technologies. Since 2001, Paul has led L360 ARCHITECTURE into the full implementation of BIM and maintains a close eye on maintaining and customizing the process change conducive to a BIM implementation. L360 ARCHITECTURE not only implements BIM on 100 percent of all L360 projects, but it is L360's unique commitment to modelling all disciplines scope of work in their projects  while, at the same time as the construction documents are being developed, L360  virtually constructs the project using the same documentation,so as to proactively flush out and resolve all problems that otherwise left undetected, causes project cost overruns when found during the "real world" construction phase. Paul is one of the original three Founders of the Canada BIM Council  and having recently held the position of CANBIM's first President, then Treasurer, currently holds the position of Director and sits on the Education Committee.

Sheryl Staub-French, Past Director

Associate Professor, Dept. Civil Engineering & Goldcorp Professor for Women in Engineering, UBC

Sheryl Staub-French is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Goldcorp Professor for Women in Engineering at the University of British Columbia. She received her BS in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University and her MS and PhD from Stanford University. She has over 15 years of consulting and research experience studying the technological and organizational issues of BIM implementation within organizations and across projects. Her research focuses on developing tools and techniques to better support multi-disciplinary coordination and information management throughout the project lifecycle. She has contributed more than 60 papers in leading journals and conferences on BIM and related topics, and has contributed to the development of guidelines and best practices for BIM adoption and implementation. She is actively engaged with industry to advance BIM adoption, formerly serving as a Director for the Canada BIM Council and currently serving as a member of the Education Committee for BuildingSMART Canada.

Al Prowse, CanBIM Past Director

President, H. Griffiths Company Ltd.

 

Al started working with H. Griffiths Company Limited in 1977. He served his apprenticeship with the company and eventually began running work. When the need arose Al moved into the office as an estimator and became Chief Estimator in the early nineties. Al has recently been appointed President of the Company in 2005 and looks forward to a very bright future. Al is active with the Mechanical Contractors Association.
