Digitizing the built environment is radically transforming the way we manage, operate, and maintain buildings and facilities. Harnessing the true power of building data and information can deliver millions of dollars’ worth of cost and efficiency savings, so how are different organizations doing it? Hear from Owners, Facility Managers, and Capital Planners about what BIM data is important and how to ask for it so you get what you expect, when you expect it.

The session opens with a fireside chat with CanBIM President & CEO Thomas Strong and Autodesk's Neil Rosado, Construction Readiness Manager where the two will discuss Best Practices for Project Turnover / Handover. For clients and contractors, the commissioning and turnover process can be stressful, expensive and long. This class will explore practical case studies and best practices on how the best in the industry are reducing the schedule for commissioning and transferring data to owners, and creating stronger relationships.

Following this, CanBIM Members Steve Tremblay Deputy Director and Interim Director of the deployment of integrated practices BIM-IDP and Souha Tahrani Consultant in Integrated Practices Management from Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI) will present BIM in the digital transformation, how to take advantage of it? The Owner’s challenges and potential opportunities.

Patrick Saavedra, University Architect and Director, Planning, Architecture, Engineering and Design at York University will present Crossing The Bridge: Data Handover; Expectations vs. Reality at The End of The Project.

CanBIM will close out the session with a Panel discussion led by Geraldine Rayner, Director, SummitBIM Consulting on Setting the Foundation for Your Digital Buildings: Lessons from the Front. Panelists will include Victor Cadoret, Project Coordinator - Halifax International Airport, Stefan Melnyk, Director, Mixed Use Projects - Century Group, Derek Cheung, Manager, Building Information Management & Strategic Sourcing at Mattamy Homes.

The event will be a great opportunity for Owners, Facility Managers, Commissioning agents, Designers, Contractors, Developers, Asset Managers and anyone involved in the project lifecycle to learn about current challenges and opportunities for managing the facility lifecycle.
